Once upon a time, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Kanye West said that George W. Bush did not care about black people. Bush said this was the “worst moment” of his presidency. Now, leaving aside the fact that he failed to help so many people after that storm, or that he blew our surplus away so the rich could get richer, or that he failed to prevent 9/11 in spite of clear warnings, or that or that he got us embroiled in land wars that worsened the situation in the middle east and cost thousands of lives and about 4 trillion dollars, or started a recession, and any of those things are better qualified to be the worst moment of his presidency, I thought Kanye was wrong. Bush just didn’t give a shit about anyone who wasn’t well off, regardless of their ethnicity.
Maybe I was wrong about that.
Turns out his presidential pardons had a Whites Only policy, although in fairness 3 Latinos and an “other” slipped through.
Huh. I always assumed Bush was shitting on all people with equal disregard, barring the usual patriarchal systemic discrimination against people of color, of course. However, it looks like people of color were totally slapped away if they came to him for help.
Maybe this is why the Right Wing is so afraid of the POTUS, Barak Obama. They are always wailing and gnashing their teeth about President Obama’s “reverse racism”. Maybe they are just terrified that “his kind” will treat “their kind” with the same brutal callousness that “their kind” treated “his kind.” Golly, that just wouldn’t be fair!
Yeah, it does really suck to be treated as a second class citizen.
So, little far-right asshats, why don’t you stop doing it to others first?
Just an idea. Might be worth a think.
